Tarkin by RoyStanton
A quick portrait sketch of a much younger Tarkin; not as young as in the Clone Wars, but perhaps a newly minted Grand Moff, with the Death Star only just under construction.  Graphite on sketch paper, 8.5x11, done in about 2 hours.
DoctorWhoHartnell by RoyStanton
Not "my" Doctor, but THE Doctor, without whom none of the others would have been possible. Just a quick sketch of The FIRST Doctor, played by William Hartnell, back in the 60's. This one took around 2 hours. :)  Graphite on sketch paper, 8.5x11.
ClaraOswinOswald by RoyStanton
Just a quick portrait of Clara, one of my favorite of the Doctor's companions.  I know there's a lot of divided opinion on the popularity of the character, but I thought she was great!  :)  Graphite on 8.5x11 sketch paper; about 6 hours work on this one...
Harleyquinn1 by RoyStanton
Quick sketch of an idea with Harley Quinn.  Graphite on sketch paper, 8.5x11
War Doctor by RoyStanton
War Doctor
Another quick portrait, this time of the War Doctor.  Graphite on sketch paper, 8.5 x 11
Which is why I haven't posted here in soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long.  The "work" spoken of these days is a series of sketches, more or less one a day.  I've gotten up to 106 or so, and to be honest, they've expanded into pieces that can take as long as a 3 days to finish, but still have a "sketch-like" quality to them.  It's been illuminating to remind myself of what I DON'T know, or had forgotten about drawing; and I've run into a few well worn assumptions that have been summarily thrown out.  The bottom line here (if there actually IS one) is that the experience has truly underscored the importance of drawing every day.  There's no other way to improve.  Period.

And so I continue to draw.  And sculpt.  And I'm even writing short vignettes, again.  Do the work, people.  You'll be so glad you did.

You're very welcome! It's nice to see so many beautiful images of one of my all time favorite space vehicles. I have a model for Poser that I have yet to use in some images, and am heading out to Wonderfest in May where I may try to snag a large scale physical model of an Eagle. What can I say? It's a love affair with that ship design. :)
