Yes, my last journal entry was all about offering prints of some of my portraits. No, they haven't been put up on the site yet. I'm still in the process of getting licensing, which is somewhat more involved than I had anticipated. However, it's extremely important, obviously, and must be done before any sales can proceed. In the meantime, I've been dividing my time between acting and visual art; with a gig on an episode of a television series, and working on a 1/6 sculpt of Captain Tarkin from The Clone Wars animated series, to be given to the very talented voice actor who portrayed him on the show. The tv series premieres this fall; the figure is nearly finished, as far as the sculpt, and will be up on the site as soon as it's complete.
Then there's the series of Star Wars portraits that I've just started....

It's STILL about doing the work
Which is why I haven't posted here in soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long. The "work" spoken of these days is a series of sketches, more or less one a day. I've gotten up to 106 or so, and to be honest, they've expanded into pieces that can take as long as a 3 days to finish, but still have a "sketch-like" quality to them. It's been illuminating to remind myself of what I DON'T know, or had forgotten about drawing; and I've run into a few well worn assumptions that have been summarily thrown out. The bottom line here (if there actually IS one) is that the experience has truly underscored the importance of drawing every day. There's no oth
It's just about doing the work...
....which is why I so seldom write one of these! But, a new piece just went up here, and I thought I'd write a bit about it. "Savage Betty" was an idea that was swimming in my head for quite awhile, and she's finally been brought out into the real world. The project was a lot of fun to work on, and a learning experience in a lot of ways in terms of materials and what they will and won't do. Lots of useful knowledge gained, and I got to take a first swipe at one of my favorite subjects. Most importantly, I was reminded that the work IS the most important thing about this whole artsy side of my life. When I'm actually doing the work, that
Captain on Deck!
And by that, I mean Captain Tarkin! Yep, just finished the sculpt and paint up of my Capt. Tarkin figure, the younger version of the character played by Peter Cushing in Star Wars. This is a version of him sometime after the end of The Clone Wars, had there been a live action film and a younger Peter Cushing to play the character. A huge thanks goes to my very talented brother, Stephen Stanton, who voiced Tarkin on The Clone Wars animated series, and who was the inspiration to take on this project. The piece will go in his collection, and may make the rounds when he appears at conventions on the West Coast. I have to say: now that I'm fi
I'm back, and this time...
... I've got a new piece of work that will be offered as a print, mousepad, and mug. Figured it was time to see if any of you out there in deviantart land might be interested in owning some of my work. So, I'm starting in on the printshop. Eventually, all my graphite portraits will be available as prints. Just need to get the right files loaded onto the site. And I hope to put more new prints up here on a regular basis. Thanks for looking, all!
